Accessible financial literacy

Managing money can be harder for some. We're here to help.

Phillips & Powell Sterling provides patient, practical budgeting support for care leavers, low-income households, single parents and adults with additional needs across West Suffolk.

Small steps. Clear choices.

Practical support

Programmes designed with you in mind

Every session starts with real circumstances, from setting up a first bill to making a weekly budget work until payday.

Care leavers

Build confidence with independent living budgets, rent, bills and direct debits. We use examples that make sense when everything is new.

Low-income households

Work through income, priority payments and debt choices without judgement. The focus stays on practical money management for low-income households.

Single-parent families

Map irregular costs, plan around school expenses and create a small buffer when circumstances allow. Sessions can be arranged for small groups.

Adults needing extra time

Low numeracy, learning disabilities and long-term health conditions are considered from the start. Visual aids and repetition keep each idea manageable.

A calmer way to learn

How we make learning accessible

There is no test to pass. We explain one useful point at a time, then give people space to practise it.

Plain English

We explain interest, priority bills and borrowing without jargon or shame.

Visual, everyday examples

Simple tables, familiar receipts and real-life scenarios turn abstract figures into clear choices.

Flexible pace

We repeat key points, pause when needed and adapt sessions around energy, concentration and confidence.

One-to-one support

Private sessions suit people facing intense anxiety, cognitive needs or difficult personal circumstances.

We needed money management support that residents could follow without feeling singled out. Phillips & Powell Sterling listened to our housing team, changed the pace and kept every example grounded in daily life. Residents now bring specific questions to appointments.
Carlitto Mitchum, housing association officer
Why did we choose Phillips & Powell Sterling? Because the sessions give people a clear next step, even when their finances feel tangled. The plain language helps our team continue the conversation after the session.
